Burnaby Firefighters appreciate the community support!
Sep 18, 2016

March, 2015 - Burnaby Firefighters would like to express their appreciation for the support the community has shown with two recent letters that were forwarded to Fire Chief Doug McDonald that he has shared with members, adding “for a job well done!”.

Dear Mayor Corrigan,

On Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at approx 4:15 pm, our senior neighbours Bruno and Irma Andomin had a car fire in their attached garage located at 3975 Dundas Street.

They had just parked their car inside the garage and went upstairs. A few minutes later they could smell smoke. Bruno went back downstairs, opened the basement door and found their car on fire.

The quick response and courageous actions of your Firefighters initiating an offensive fire attack into the heavily smoke charged garage to extinguish the now fully involved car engine fire, saved our neighbour's home.

Bruno & Irma's home and contents were spared to having minimal smoke and water damage, and only very minimal fire damage to their garage.

Thankfully, they exited their home and were cared for by your Firefighters until BCAS arrived to transport them to BGH for observation and were released shortly thereafter.

The attached photo of their car involved shows the extent of the car fire.

We live here in Burnaby with great pride and honour knowing that we are protected by such a professional, well trained fire service.

Thanks to you and your Firefighters!

Sincerely,
Bob Hollier

To Mayor Corrigan and the fire department of Burnaby:

I wanted to send this email of appreciation for the quick response and excellent work by the fire department and the responders from fire hall #5 to the fire at the home of my parents Bruno & Irma Bonamin at 3975 Dundas Street.

On Tuesday March 3rd at approximately 4:15pm my parents smelled smoke from their attached garage and found that their car was on fire in the garage. The quick and professional response prevented this fire from spreading into the home and left their garage with minimal fire damage. The home only suffered from smoke damage and minimal water damage as well.

Thank you very much,

Sincerely,
Antonio Bonamin
