The Burnaby Firefighters are members of the International Association of Fire Fighters, a labour organization representing 300,000 professional firefighters across North America, including 25,000 men and women whose duty it is to protect the lives and properties of Canadians.
Local 323 is our local union representing 281 professional members of the Burnaby Fire Department.
IAFF Local 323 Structure
Our union membership elects four Executive Officers (President, Secretary, Vice President and Treasurer) to two year terms, and Executive Board members (one representative each for A, B, C and D shift and the Fire Prevention Office) on an annual basis.
The Executive Officers are responsible for negotiating wages, benefits and all other working conditions pertaining to the collective agreement between the union and the City of Burnaby. We are committed to ensuring a safe workplace and safe working conditions for our membership. Our union Executive also has dominion over all grievances related to our collective agreement and we represent all members of our union in their dealings with the employer.
The Burnaby Fire Fighters Association Local 323 strives to work cooperatively with the Fire Chief and the department administration on issues of mutual concern, and attempts to foster a positive labour-management relationship.
